A cheeky meat free spaghetti bolognese dish. I never told any of my family there was no meat in it and they had no idea and said they enjoyed it. I will definitely will make it again.
What ya need!
1 tbs of oil. I use Macadamia oil
1 brown onion, chopped
2 carrots, sliced and halved
300g bag of Quorn mince
1 tbs garlic granules
90g tinned tomato puree
1 400g tinned cherry tomatoes
1 pkt Maggi Spaghetti Bolognese mix
1 cup of water
300g spaghetti
Garlic bread to serve
Grated cheese to serve
What ya do!
Squeeze your oil into a frying pan and fry on medium heat for 1 minute.
Add your onion, carrot, Quorn and garlic in a pan and cook for 5 minutes or till veg soft.
Add tomato paste, powdered bolognese mix, tomatoes and water.
Stir to combine.
Bring to the boil and then simmer for ten minutes.
Cook spaghetti as per pkt instructions.
Serve with cheese and garlic bread.

HHHiiiyyyaaa!!!
I love being cheeky. Sometimes I don't want to have meat but still fancy a bolognese. I always want to have bolognese to be truthful. I absolutely love it. I bought some Quorn and didn't tell anyone. Obviously I would never do it the other way round but having a meal with no meat does not harm anyone. When I chose to get Quorn instead of mince meat, I did feel guilty but I say to myself "Mrs Shelley they will never know".
I love being at the stove and presenting my pan and doing a leg kick back. It makes the meal taste much better I'm sure. It also is so much fun.
I still maintain I should bring a food earring line out. I love holding different types of foods to my ears to see if I would suit them. I really must stop being rude in how I position my carrots though.
If there is a word that I do not use so much, I love to spell the word out in Auslan. I have a profoundly deaf sister and we were brought up on British Sign Language but when we came to Australia, we realised it was Auslan. It doesn't really matter as we use our own sign language at times and are quite sloppy with it. I definitely had to spell the word Quorn!
When I threw the Quorn into the pan half of it went all over my worktop. I don't know why I am such a messy cook.
The older I have become, the lazier I get. I'm starting to move away from fresh garlic. I can't be bothered to peel and chop, mince or grate. I've just been getting dried granules and that's the way it's going to stay.
I still love grating my cheese because I feel that when I buy cheese already grated it tastes a bit powdery. I'm done off about it because the last thing I feel like is grating cheese. I do love to eat chunks of cheese though when I'm grating and then I get so full I don't want to eat dinner.
I buy my tomato puree in a 90g tin and to be honest I just chuck it all in because who wants to put 1 tablespoon in and waste the rest? It tastes so much more tomatoey and I love it.
Mrs Shelley never uses a packet bolognese mix but in this instance I thought I would try a Maggi mix and it won me over. It was very tasty.
Overall this meal was so delicious. I gave it a Mrs Shelley Curtsy and I definitely will make it again.
For those of you that do not follow my social media and do not know half of what I am talking about, give me a follow and you will see. The links are in my website.
I hope you enjoy this meat free spaghetti bolognese dish.
